Privacy Policy

How Sportfish Connection handles information you share with us. Last updated September 27, 2026.

What this covers

This website is operated by The Sportfish Connection LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“Sportfish Connection”, “we”), and publishes offshore fishing tournament schedules, results and coverage. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and how it is handled. It applies to this website only — not to the tournament, sponsor, social-media or video platforms we link to, each of which has its own policies.

Information you choose to submit

The site collects personal information only when you send it to us:

  • Contact form — your name, email address, subject and message. Used to read and reply to your enquiry.
  • Newsletter (The Offshore Brief) — your email address, if you choose to subscribe. It is used only to send the Sportfish Connection updates you asked for (upcoming tournaments, results, offshore news, podcast episodes and coverage). The newsletter is sent through Klaviyo, our email provider, which receives your address when you subscribe. Every newsletter email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time — we remove it from Klaviyo too.
  • Tournament submissions — the tournament details you provide (event name, dates, location, links) plus your name, email, optional phone number and any notes, so we can review the event, verify it and, where appropriate, list it on the schedule and follow up with you about it.

Submissions and subscriptions are stored in the site’s content management system, where they are visible only to the Sportfish Connection team; a copy of each new contact message or tournament submission is emailed to our team inbox so we can respond. We keep this information for as long as it is useful for the purpose above (for example, to keep a tournament listing accurate over future editions) or until you ask us to remove it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and network provider records standard request and security logs (such as IP address, browser type, requested pages and timestamps) to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service, and keeps them for a short period. We do not use these logs to build profiles of individual visitors, and the public site does not use advertising or behavioral-tracking technologies.

Tournament pages may show public marine weather and tide data from the U.S. National Weather Service and NOAA. Those requests are made by our server, not your browser, and contain no visitor information.

Cookies and similar technologies

The public pages of this site do not use advertising, analytics or behavioral-tracking cookies, and the site itself does not store anything in your browser (no cookies, local storage or similar) unless you sign in to the editorial system, which sets session cookies for staff only. Sponsor placements are static images and links served by us; they do not track you.

  • Infrastructure and security. Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site, may use strictly necessary technologies — such as a short-lived cookie set during a security check — to keep the service working and to block abusive traffic. These are not used for advertising.
  • Analytics. We do not currently run website analytics. If we add a privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics service (one that counts page views without identifying or tracking individual visitors), we will describe it here.
  • Embedded media. Video and podcast pages can embed players from YouTube (loaded in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo. An embedded player may set its own cookies or storage once you interact with it, under that platform’s privacy policy rather than ours.

Because the site does not use non-essential cookies, it does not show a cookie-consent banner. We will update this policy and revisit that decision before any tracking practice changes.

Service providers

The website runs on third-party infrastructure that processes data on our behalf solely to provide the service:

  • Cloudflare (website hosting and delivery, file and image storage and processing, network security and, when enabled, sending the site’s emails)
  • Neon (database hosting for the site’s content and form submissions)
  • Klaviyo (sending The Offshore Brief newsletter to subscribers; the site sends it your email address, it does not run on our pages)

These providers store data in the United States. Typefaces are self-hosted, so your browser makes no request to Google Fonts. Embedded YouTube/Vimeo players and links to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Spotify and Apple Podcasts are governed by those platforms’ own privacy policies.

How we use and share information

We use submitted information only to respond to you, to send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to maintain accurate tournament listings. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not disclose it to third parties except the service providers above, or where required by law.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you may ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete information you have submitted. Because we do not sell or share personal information or track visitors, there is nothing to opt out of. Browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control and “Do Not Track” are respected by default: the site works the same way whether or not your browser sends them, because it does not track you across sites or over time. To make a request, use our Contact form and choose “Privacy request”. We will respond promptly and within the time required by applicable law.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and submissions are visible only to signed-in staff accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information you send us.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and note the date of the update above.
