Overview
Cozumel's 55-year-old Torneo Internacional de Pesca — the 'Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas' — is the largest-fleet tournament in Quintana Roo, with catch-and-release billfish scoring plus weighed wahoo, dorado, tuna, sierra and barracuda.
Organised by the Cozumel municipal government, the Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas held its 55th consecutive edition in May 2026 with 108 boats from Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Veracruz, Campeche, Tamaulipas and the US Gulf states. It anchors the state's new 'Gran Circuito de Pesca Aleta Azul del Caribe Mexicano'.
The 2026 edition offered MX$500,000 for first place (MX$250,000 / 150,000 / 60,000 / 50,000 for 2nd–5th) plus best-captain and best-mate awards. Billfish are scored on release; two fishing days with a 7:00 start and 18:00 scale close.
