Overview
Puerto Morelos' municipal Día de la Marina tournament: a one-day offshore event out of the fishermen's dock with billfish catch-and-release and a traditional scale division.
Held each year around Día de la Marina (June 1) by the Puerto Morelos municipal government, the tournament combines catch-and-release scoring for marlin and sailfish with a weighed division, preceded by a captains' dinner at Marina El Cid. The 2026 edition drew 44 boats from Puerto Morelos, Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Puerto Aventuras and paid MX$150,000 / 100,000 / 50,000 to the top three.
